Well we made it to Colorado, saw some crazy murals in the Denver airport, stopped at a badass fly shop on the way to Estes, ate a kick ass burger at Oskar Blues (good beer too), and even managed to squeeze in some fishing time in the Park before it got dark on us. Elk are everywhere around here, even in town. It was a good day.

Kayak Angler’s Choice Awards
YakAngler.com and KayakFishingRadio.com get together and put out an annual Kayak Angler’s Choice Awards and they are going on right now. As I scrolled through the list making my selections I was surprised to see this blog as an option for Kayak Angling Blog of the Year. I thought that was pretty cool and I thank whomever nominated me. This scene from The Mask immediately came to mind:

Kayak Anglers Choice Awards (KACA) is a joint venture between YakAngler.com and KayakFishingRadio.com. Each year kayak anglers from across the globe nominate and vote for their favorites in various categories like Kayak Angler of the year, Kayak Fishing Guide of the year, Kayak of the year, and more. Popper style
Popper style, pop, pop, popper style……
The lakes in the neighborhood ponds have cleared up quite a bit and as Catch Cormier always says “clear water favors the fly rodder”. So yesterday after work I slung some poppers and had pretty good action before the sun went down.

I was using smaller poppers that were better suited for bream, but every once in a while a bass would explode from under the grass to annihilate the popper, or even the hooked bream. They were very aggressive yesterday which made for a lot of fun.
Also fun – rapping Popper Style while fly fishing in the neighborhood.
She want pop pop, she love pop pop……
